The Armory

Privacy Policy

Last updated 8 September 2026

The Armory is a tool for keeping track of camera gear and packing it for shoots. It is run by JGarcia Visuals. This page explains exactly what the app stores, where it goes, and how to get rid of it. Plain English, no lawyer padding.

The short version

Your receipts are stored privately, and only you can open them.

They are kept in your account so they survive a lost or wiped device — the whole point of having them. They sit in private storage that refuses anyone but you, and opening one creates a link that expires after five minutes.

We do not sell your data, and there are no advertising trackers.

No analytics tracking pixels, no ad networks, no data brokers.

You can delete everything, permanently, from inside the app.

Settings has a delete-account button that erases your account and its data.

What we store

WhatWhy, and where it lives
Your email address To sign you in and to send sign-in links. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address and name from Google — nothing else, and never your Google password. Stored in our database.
Your gear list Item names, brands, model numbers, serial numbers, purchase dates and your notes. This is the point of the app. Stored in our database.
Your kits and shoots Kit names and contents; shoot names, dates, locations and notes. Stored in our database.
Receipts you attach Stored privately in your account, readable only by you. They are held in private storage, and viewing one creates a link that expires after five minutes. A copy is also kept in your browser so receipts open instantly and work offline. Delete an item and its receipts go with it.
Gear photos You cannot upload your own; the app finds a standard product photo so every item looks consistent. These are stock product images, not your pictures.
Your plan Whether you are on Free, Pro or Premium. Stored in our database.
Showcases you publish Only if you choose to publish one. See "Things you make public" below.

What we do not collect

Things you make public

A showcase is a page you deliberately publish to share your kit. If you publish one, the title, description, the display name you choose, and the gear on it become visible to anyone with the link. Nothing is public unless you publish it, and you can unpublish it at any time. Your email address is never shown on a showcase.

Companies that help run the app

We use a small number of services to make the app work. They process your data only to provide their service to us.

WhoWhat they do
SupabaseStores the database and your receipts, and handles sign-in.
VercelHosts and serves the app.
GoogleOnly if you choose "Continue with Google", to verify who you are.
AnthropicWhen you type a piece of gear, the name you typed is sent to Anthropic's AI service to look up the exact model number and a product photo. Only the gear name is sent — not your identity, and not the rest of your inventory.

Affiliate links

Shop links in the app and on showcases are usually affiliate links, which means we may earn a small commission if you buy something — at no extra cost to you. It is what keeps the app free. On the Free and Pro plans the commission goes to JGarcia Visuals; on Premium you can use your own affiliate links instead. Clicking a shop link takes you to that retailer, who then applies their own privacy policy.

How long we keep things

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account and it is removed. Published showcases are removed when you unpublish them or delete your account, though copies may briefly persist in backups or in other people's browser caches.

Your choices

Depending on where you live you may have additional legal rights over your data, including in the UK, the EU and California. We will honour any such request; just write to us.

Children

The Armory is meant for working photographers and filmmakers and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect their data.

Security

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored with access rules so that one account cannot read another's. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe — anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in link.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles your data, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be announced in the app.
